Hamara School, Mallah Ka Nagla, Aligarh
Nurturing Education for the Underprivileged
Established in 1997 by a group of students from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Hamara School operates under the Society for Human Welfare and Education. Located in Mallah Ka Nagla, Aligarh, the school is dedicated to providing quality education to underprivileged children, particularly first-generation learners from the areas surrounding the AMU campus and nearby rural communities. Over the years, Hamara School has grown to support its students through four key programs:
- 1. Hamara School in Mallah Ka Nagla, Aligarh: Currently, Hamara School serves 355 students across Nursery, Senior Nursery, Kindergarten, and classes I to V. Supported by a dedicated team of 25 staff members, the school offers a nurturing environment with eight well-equipped classrooms, a computer lab, a projector with a smart board, a library and two administrative offices. The school primarily caters to children from families facing socioeconomic challenges, many of whom are reluctant to send their children to school. Hamara School prepares these students for formal education in other Aligarh schools, helping them transition into the broader educational system.
- 2. AEEF Scholarship Program: Since 2011, the AEEF Scholarship Program has supported the educational journey of Hamara School students who gain admission to Aligarh Modern School. To date, 675 students have benefited from this scholarship, empowering them to continue their education in a more formal academic setting.
- 3. Coaching Classes: To ensure academic success and help students keep pace with their peers in other schools, Hamara School offers additional coaching for 110 students. This program is supported by 11 dedicated staff members, providing extra support to strengthen students' academic foundations.
- 4. AEEF Food Support Program: Initiated as a Mid-Day Meal program in 2019, this initiative evolved into a monthly ration distribution program during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Aligarh Education Endowment Fund (AEEF) provides food and ration kits to 355 enrolled students from 200 families, benefiting approximately 1,200 individuals.
With a total enrollment of 465 students, including those in the coaching program, Hamara School continues to be a beacon of hope for underserved communities, offering not only education but also opportunities for a brighter future.
