Women are essential contributors to community development, but their participation in the workforce has been declining. Despite forming a significant part of the labor force, many women work in informal sectors due to limited access to employment opportunities and professional skills. HUNAR GHAR addresses this gap by providing women with the skills needed to enter the garment industry, either through formal employment or self-employment.
The center aims to improve women’s productivity and their ability to contribute to national growth. With proper training and access to sewing machines, women can become more self-sufficient, generating income while playing an important role in nation-building. In addition to technical skills, the center fosters personal development, creating a supportive space for women to grow in confidence and leadership.
The primary beneficiaries are women from underprivileged and marginalized communities, particularly those who lack education and job opportunities. The center serves women of all ages, with a focus on homemakers, single mothers, and widows seeking financial independence.
HUNAR GHAR offers various courses, including basic and advanced sewing and embroidery. In addition to vocational skills, the program integrates personality development activities that build confidence, communication, and leadership abilities, ensuring that women are equipped not only to enter the workforce but to thrive in it.
The HUNAR GHAR center currently caters to around 100 women daily. Since its launch in 2023, the center has trained over 200 women and plans to expand its capacity to reach 300 women annually in the coming years.
Following the initial investment in infrastructure, sewing machines, and other resources, the project incurs ongoing costs for:
These recurring costs are estimated at around $5,000 per year, while the initial setup required an investment of approximately $10,000.
The HUNAR GHAR center aims to create a sustainable model where women can develop employable skills, achieve financial independence, and contribute to economic growth. Over the next decade, the center plans to train over 4,000 women, empowering them to find work in formal sectors, establish their own businesses, or work in garment industries.
By providing a safe and supportive environment for learning, HUNAR GHAR equips women with the tools and confidence needed to become self-reliant, fostering a culture of empowerment that will benefit both the local community and the nation as a whole.
HUNAR GHAR represents a significant step towards empowering women in underprivileged communities. By focusing on skill development and personal growth, the center not only helps women achieve financial independence but also plays a crucial role in community and national development. The project's ongoing success and planned expansion underscore its potential to create lasting positive change.
